Pro-Palestinian demonstrators once again gathered on the campus of UCLA on Monday, prompting the university to move all classes to remote learning.

The day's protests began in a campus parking lot where police detained dozens of demonstrators. KTLA 5 News observed several people sitting on the ground with their hands zip-tied behind their backs and surrounded by police. Some wore lime green hats.

An officer at the scene told KTLA that around 43 people were taken into custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

By 9 a.m., authorities had moved the detained students to a different part of the parking structure and were not letting anyone speak to them.

A student-led group had called for a sit-in at Moore Hall on Instagram to begin at 7 a.m., but the hall was closed an hour later and Monday classes there were moved to virtual, the school said.

Students were advised to avoid the area of Royce Quad.

Later, dozens of protesters, perhaps more than 100, marched through campus and gathered for a rally in front of the student union building. The university then announced that all classes would be moved to remote due to "ongoing disruptions."

Monday's incident comes less than a week after law enforcement dismantled a pro-Palestinian protest encampment from Royce Quad and arrested dozens of activists.

On Sunday morning, police at crosstown University of Southern California removed an encampment of protesters in the second such incident in two weeks.
