MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It's the last day of this year's RiverBeat Music Festival and it was almost a washout.

The RiverBeat Music Festival was on hold due to the rain, but that did not stop the party in downtown Memphis. In a statement, they announced that the gates would remain closed until further notice.

"We're just excited to be here. Hate that it's raining, but we're still gonna vibe out," Brie Stevens said.

People were seeking shelter wherever they could find it, including the Hyatt Centric Hotel right outside the entrance gates, patiently waiting for the event to start.

Riverbeat sent a mass text: the show will go on, rain or shine. The clouds cleared and the gates opened.

There were five stages for fans to see the likes of Jelly Roll, the Black Pumas, Memphis' own 8 ball & MJG, and more.

Mayor Paul Young was even in attendance rocking out to the performances as well.

"This is the first year they've held this specific event," Young said. "It's been a really good vibe, great energy. The artists have been good so I look forward to seeing the rest of this one and then seeing what they do in the future."

The mayor added that the festival has not been an outlet for violence.
