David Corenswet is super, man! Don't believe this severe dad-joke pun? Then check him out as Hollywood's next big-screen strongman from Krypton.

Corenswet arrives in the first look at Superman, the film written and directed by James Gunn that will anchor the newly made-over DC cinematic universe.

Gunn, who also leads DC Studios with Peter Safran, showed a mere glimpse of the costume while announcing the start of filming on Superman in February. But now we have our full look.

"The above photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera," Gunn wrote in a post on Threads Monday.

The filmmaker has been actively shooting down rumors about the film left and right, often on social media platform Threads. When production began, photos started circulating online with the apparent leaked look at Corenswet in his full costume. However, Gunn was quick to confirm those were doctored.

The Superman cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Nathan Fillion as the Earth-based Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.

Despite an ensemble full of various DC comics staples, Gunn reiterated in a recent post on Threads for skeptical fans, "The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor."

Previously titled Superman: Legacy, Superman revolves around Kal-El trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his upbringing as Clark Kent from Smallville. "When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy," Gunn explained in a social media post in February. "By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was Superman. Making our way to you July 2025."

Superman is scheduled to open in theaters July 11, 2025.
