Poultry ranch in Ionia County announces mass layoffs amid bird flu outbreak

SARANAC, Mich. (WILX) - Herbruck's Poultry Ranch is planning to have a mass layoff at several locations due to the avian flu.

The mass layoff is estimated to affect 400 employees. According to Herbruck's, the layoff is expected to be largely temporary and will affect many hourly and salaried employees as well as contractors. The company plans to rehire many of the positions when production begins to increase.

The company has sent out a list of positions that are affected by the layoff:
